Why grade at all?
Grading does three things: it authenticates the card, it standardises condition into a number the whole market trusts, and it encases the card in a tamper-evident slab. A graded card can sell sight-unseen to a buyer on another continent; a rawcard mostly can't. Shipping there — and the customs trap coming back
Outbound is straightforward: rigid card savers inside a crush-proof box, insured courier (DHL and FedEx both work well from the UAE), declared honestly. The trap is the return leg: if the shipment isn't documented as your own goods returning after a service, customs can treat your newly graded cards as a fresh import and charge 5% duty plus VAT on their (now higher) declared value. Keep the outbound airway bill and export declaration, and make sure the grader's return paperwork references the original shipment. Realistic timeline from the Gulf
- Shipping out: 3–7 days by courier.
- Intake and grading: anywhere from 2–3 weeks (express tiers) to 2–3 months (value tiers) depending on the grader's backlog.
- Return shipping and clearance: another 1–2 weeks.
Budget one to four months door to door. Nothing about grading from the UAE is fast; what you're buying is trust and liquidity, not speed.
When grading is worth it
A useful rule: grade when the expected graded value comfortably exceeds raw value + ~AED 200 of all-in costs, or when you need authentication regardless of value.
